Changelly’s Android mobile app allows users to buy and exchange crypto as easily and with the same low fees as our website. And not only that — it also comes with a whole bunch of useful features that can all be enjoyed on the go.
In this guide, we will show you how to buy and exchange cryptocurrency in the Changelly Android app and introduce you to all of its main features.
Please note that due to regular updates and bug fixes, there might be some minor differences between the screenshots in this guide and the live version of the Changelly app. If you have any questions or issues when using our app, please don’t hesitate to contact our support team via the live chat on our website or the Support tab in our app.
The Main Features of the Changelly Android App
When you launch the Changelly app for the first time, you will be suggested to create an account. You can skip this step and still have full access to all key features; however, registration is still recommended for the best experience.
Here are the tabs you will see at the bottom of your screen whenever you open the Changelly mobile app:
Explore
Exchange
Buy
History
Settings
Explore
This is the first screen you see when you launch the Changelly app. You can access your Watchlist here, see a brief overview of the price history of certain cryptocurrencies you saved to it, search for top losers and gainers, read the latest crypto news, and more.
You can add cryptocurrencies to your Watchlist by tapping the little star icon in the upper right corner of your phone screen when you open that coin’s or token’s page. Please note that this feature is only available to users who have a Changelly account.
Exchange
In this tab, you can exchange any of the 500+ crypto tokens or coins available on our platform.
You can tap the coin/token ticker to see which crypto assets are available for exchange.
To see what fees you’ll have to pay, tap the “All fees included” info tooltip right beneath the exchange widget. Underneath this tooltip, you will see the option to pick either a floating exchange rate or a fixed one.
Network Types
Please note that some coins and tokens may operate on several different networks at once, or can only be transferred on a specific network. On our platform, network type is indicated via the token’s ticker. Besides, there is a small label next to it. For example, USDT on the Ethereum network is called USDT20, while the same token on the Tron network is USDTRX.
Different variations of USDT are available on Changelly.
Network types are really important. For example, if your wallet only supports USDC on the Ethereum network, you might lose your funds if you try to send USDCBSC instead. Please make sure to always double-check what token you’re sending.
What is the floating exchange rate?
As the crypto market is very volatile, rates, as well as fees, can change within seconds. That, coupled with the fact that some crypto transactions can take minutes and even hours, means that sometimes, you may not receive your cryptocurrency at the rate you agreed to.
When you choose floating exchange rates, you confirm that you understand that the rate you see when initiating a transaction might differ from the one you actually get. Your exchange will be carried out at the best available rate at the moment when the funds you send to our wallet receive the required number of confirmations on the blockchain.
Please note that when using floating exchange rates, you will have 3 hours to send your funds to our wallet. If you don’t manage to send the funds within that time frame, you need to set up a new transaction. Changelly wallet addresses can expire, so if you send your crypto to us past the 3-hour mark, your funds will be locked in our system for an unspecified period of time, and they might be partially lost.
What is the fixed exchange rate?
Fixed exchange rates allow you to “lock” the rate you see on your screen when starting the exchange. This means that the rate won’t change during the transaction process.
When using fixed exchange rates, you must send your funds to us within 15 minutes. If you send them later, or if you send less than the required amount, one of the following two cases will occur:
We will push your order through later if the rate doesn’t deviate too much from the one you “locked” when initiating the transaction. Please note that this is decided on a case-by-case basis.
We will issue a refund to the crypto wallet address you entered when creating the transaction.
You can learn more about fixed and floating exchange rates in this article.

How to Exchange Cryptocurrency in Changelly App on Android
Now, let’s go through the process of exchanging coins and tokens in the Changelly app on your Android mobile phone.
Part 1. Exchange crypto at floating rates
Step 1. When you first go to the Exchange tab, floating rates will be chosen by default.
Step 2. Select the cryptocurrencies you would like to exchange by pressing the tickers. Then, enter the amount you’d like to spend.
On Changelly, you will have over 500 cryptocurrencies to choose from; use the search box at the top of the screen to find the ones you wish to swap.
Step 3. Fill in the address of the wallet where you want to receive your new crypto.
If your crypto wallet supports it, you can use a QR code instead of entering the address manually. To scan one, tap the QR code icon in the address bar.
If you’ve used our app before, then your wallet address was most likely saved in our system, and you will be able to choose it from the list of recent addresses.
To access saved and recent addresses, tap the “Destination address” bar.
Step 4. Double-check the destination address — don’t forget to make sure that it supports not only the coin/token you’re buying but also its specific network type.
When performing some transactions, you might also have to enter a Memo ID. It is an extra identifier that is required for making transactions on certain chains — you can see the full list of the networks that require it in the “What is Memo.ID?” section below.
Pay attention to the network fee and arrival time. If everything is to your satisfaction, tap Confirm.
Step 5. We will give you a crypto wallet address to which you must send your cryptocurrency. Once you receive the address, you will have 3 hours to proceed with the transfer. There will be a countdown on the page that can help you to keep track of the time.
Don’t send funds to expired addresses. The address we give you can expire. Do not send your funds if the transaction has expired; create a new one instead.
Send all your funds in a single transaction. This is really important. All funds must be sent in a single transaction, or else the exchange might not go through. If you aren’t sure whether you’ve sent enough funds or whether we’ve received them, don’t send crypto to us again — wait for your transaction status to be updated.
Account for fees when sending us funds. We need to receive the exact amount requested, so make sure you send enough crypto to our wallet.
Pay attention to the Memo.ID. Some cryptocurrencies require you to enter extra information — a Memo.ID, a destination tag, and so on. Please make sure to include it, and don’t forget to double-check if you’ve entered it correctly.
Don’t forget about the requirements of your network type. Please note that the crypto you send to us has to be on the network you have indicated when initiating the transaction.
Step 6. We will initiate the conversion process once your crypto reaches our wallet and the transfer is confirmed. You can check your transaction status on the overview screen of each particular order.
Step 7. The final step is us sending your new funds to your wallet. If you see a payout hash in your transaction overview, that means the funds have already been sent. They will typically arrive in around 15–20 minutes, but sometimes, it can take a bit longer if the blockchain is busy. Once the funds are transferred, the transaction is complete. You can enjoy your new crypto!
Part 2. Exchange crypto at fixed rates
Step 1. Select the cryptocurrencies you wish to exchange from the drop-down menu that can be accessed by tapping the tickers. Then, enter the amount you’d like to exchange. Alternatively, you can enter the amount you’d like to get — do it in the “You get” field.
Please note that fixed-rate exchanges are only available for cryptocurrencies that have a small “lock” icon next to their name in the drop-down menu.
Step 2. Press the “Fixed exchange rate” option. This will lock your exchange rate when you press Confirm on the Checkout screen.
Step 3. Next, fill in the destination crypto wallet address. Please note that it has to match both the crypto you wish to get and its network type. If you’ve used our app before, you will be able to use the addresses you have entered previously — they should be available in the recent or saved addresses lists.
When using fixed exchange rates, you will also have to enter a refund address — please note that it should support the cryptocurrency you will be paying with.
If everything is to your satisfaction, press Confirm.
Step 5. We will give you a crypto wallet address to which you must send your cryptocurrency. Once you receive the address, you will have 15 minutes (in some exceptional cases, 20 minutes) to proceed with the transfer. There will be a countdown on the screen.
Don’t send funds to expired addresses. The address (and the QR code) we give you can expire.
In some cases, we might ask you to enter extra information — a Memo.ID, a destination tag, and so on. Please make sure to include it, and don’t forget to double-check if you’ve entered it correctly.
Don’t forget about the requirements of your network type. Please note that the crypto you send to us has to be on the network you have indicated when initiating the transaction.
If the amount we actually receive from you differs from the amount you input when creating the transaction, your transaction will most likely be rejected. In this case, the received money will be refunded, less the network fee. Please ensure that the amount we receive from you matches the input amount you specified for your transaction.
TThey will typically arrive in around 15–20 minutes, but sometimes, it can take a bit longer if the blockchain is busy. Once the funds are transferred, the transaction is complete. You can enjoy your new crypto!

Refunds
Refunds on Changelly fall into two categories:
If there are any problems at our end, we will pay the charge for the refund process.
If there are any problems with the information you supplied or the funds you sent us as payment, we will have to subtract the refund processing charge from the amount we return back to you.
If your transaction is refunded, you will see this page. Refunds are normally provided once we confirm them with you, so check your email inbox and spam folder if you have any problems with your transaction. Refunds without confirmation are only possible for fixed-rate transactions and in just the following two cases:
If your funds did not arrive in our wallet within the specified time frame;
If the amount we got from you is significantly less or greater than the amount we were supposed to receive from you.
Please note that most refunds fall into the second category, and the network fee for the refund transaction will most likely have to be withdrawn from the funds we send back to you. The only exception is a situation where a refund was caused by a technical issue on our side.
You can learn more about our refund policy in this article. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to contact our support team via [email protected].
To minimize the chance of running into any issues, please remember to double-check all the information you enter during the transaction process. Additionally, make sure to send all your crypto/fiat in a single transaction. For the transaction to go through, we need to receive the exact amount we requested from you within the specified time frame.
