‘Deadrop’ Game Studio Denies Dr. Disrespect’s Claim That He’ll Return

Popular video game streamer Dr. Disrespect recently said in a livestream that he’s “got a feeling” that he’ll rejoin Midnight Society, the game studio behind first-person shooter Deadrop that he helped co-found. But the company insists that’s not going to happen.

In response to a viewer question about Dr. Disrespect (aka Guy Beahm) still having Midnight Society listed in his Twitter bio, the over-the-top personality—who calls himself the “two-time” Blockbuster video game champion from the 1990s—replied on the stream.

“Yeah, that’s the two-time’s studio. That’s the two-time’s game,” he continued. “I’ve just got a feeling. You know, just give a little bit more time, we’ll be right back in it. We’ll be right back in it, champs. Just give it some time. Not a problem.”

A spokesperson for Midnight Society told Decrypt that this a “baseless claim” and that it is “not true.”

We amicably parted ways with Dr Disrespect, and will always be appreciative of his contributions to the studio. Our focus is shipping Deadrop in 2025,” the team added.

Midnight Society “terminated” its relationship with the streamer after allegations surfaced that Beahm had inappropriately chatted with a minor. Deadrop co-creator Quinn Delhoyo told Decrypt that Midnight Society then had a series of calls with Beahm discussing the situation before parting ways.

Dr. Disrespect returned to streaming earlier this month, where he then denied the allegations. This flip-flop came after the streamer previously admitted to having conversations that “leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate” in a now-deleted tweet.

During this same stream, titled “The Truth,” he also revealed that Midnight Society had to lay off staff. This was later confirmed by studio co-founder Robert Bowling via an NFT-gated Discord channel, with one former employee claiming on Instagram that half of the workforce was cut.

At the time, Dr. Disrespect still referred to Midnight Society as “we” despite the separation. In response, Bowling told Esports.gg that Dr. Disrespect was “terminated from his position after admitting to inappropriate messages with a minor.”

Amid the drama and concerns over the future of the Deadrop—which was built around the streamer’s image and personality—Midnight Society has continued to develop the vertical extraction shooter, which originally launched in 2022 via NFT access passes.

Last week, Midnight Society released a new gameplay trailer that showcased improved graphics, new maps, and fresh features for the early access game. As the studio statement noted, a full release for Deadrop is planned for 2025.
