Interpol Issues Red Notice for Hong Kong Crypto Promoter 'Coin Young Master'

The International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) has issued red notices for two Hong Kong crypto promoters.

Per South China Morning Post, Wong Ching-kit, known as “Coin Young Master,” is wanted on one count of fraud and two counts of theft, while his associate Mok Tsun-ting is sought on two counts of money laundering.

According to reports in local media, the red notices were issued at the request of Hong Kong’s police force. Police sources declined to comment on the case, stating that they were “still investigating.”

The duo were previously arrested by Hong Kong police in 2019 on fraud charges relating to the sale of Filecoin mining rigs, and later released on bail.

Mok was subsequently arrested in September 2023 as part of the fraud investigation into crypto exchange platform JPEX, which saw over 2,000 complaints filed by victims and an estimated $178 million in losses. He was later released on bail.

Wong, born Kwan Tsz-kit, was also named by South China Morning Post as one of the influencers promoting JPEX, who were ordered to cease promoting the platform by local authorities.

He had previously been given a suspended jail sentence for disorderly conduct in public, relating to a 2018 stunt in which he pulled up at a building in a Lamborghini emblazoned with the logo of a cryptocurrency he was promoting, before throwing hundreds of dollars in cash from a rooftop.

An Interpol red notice is described as “a request to law enforcement worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest a person pending extradition, surrender, or similar legal action,” with member countries applying their own laws in deciding whether or not to arrest an individual. It is not considered to be an international arrest warrant.
